We understand that changing your medical insurance can be stressful but there are several things you can do to make the transition as smooth as possible:
Refill your prescriptions now
If you need a medication refill soon, refilling your prescriptions before the change is recommended when possible. This will help ensure you have enough medication if your new ID cards are delayed during the change.
Will I need a new prescription?
If you fill your prescriptions at a local (retail) pharmacy, you do not need a new prescription because of the insurance change. However, you'll need to show your new ID card and inform your pharmacist about your new insurance.
If you fill your prescriptions through mail order, your mail order refills will end after June 30th. However, our new medical plan offers mail order, and all plan members will receive information about how and where to sign up for the new service.
Please Note: Some mail-order pharmacies allow you to set up automatic payments for medication. If you have set up an automatic payment for your mail-order medications with your current carrier, we recommend you contact them to cancel the autopayment.
Notify your doctors and other providers about the change to Surest
Speak with your providers immediately to let them know your insurance is changing as of July 1, 2023. This includes doctors, hospitals, and any other place you plan to receive care. Make sure you provide them with a copy of your new time the first time you see them after July 1st.
Our new Surest medical plan uses the UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus network of providers. Although the Choice Plus network is among UnitedHealthcare's largest network of providers, it is important to confirm your providers' in-network status before you receive care, and the best way to confirm is to call Surest, or check online using the Surest member website or app.
